Rescue and rehabilitation

Here at Russell's Rescue one of main missions is to rescue and release corvids. Because we are a small rescue we only take a small number on to care for so we can give them maximum support.

Specialising in corvids

Crows

Crows are incredibly smart, but can be hard to rehabitate in large numbers so we keep numbers low to support their needs.

Rooks

We love our rooky friends and have successfully released hundreds of rooks over the years. We have a local rookery that welcomes them in.

Magpies

We take a small number of magpies as we find they can struggle in larger numbers at our sanctuary.

Jackdaws

The clowns of the corvid world, these are the most popular and successful rescues here.

Ravens and jays

We offer a referral network or a stop gap for ravens or jays in need. We are proud to work with other rescues.

Pigeons and other songbirds

We will take in smaller songbirds or pigeons only as a stop gap if we have space in quarantine as we specialise only in corvids.

A family run, home rescue

We are a small family run rescue. Our capacity in the winter is 20 birds and 35 in the spring. We sadly can't go beyond these numbers as simply do not have enough space - which means our resident flock will be compromised. We only have capacity for 19 unreleasable birds. Our aim is to one day have extra land so we can support more birds.
